Thank you again for the support of ImpeachPAC.org to my U.S. senate campaign. As I have told you before, without the funds provided by ImpeachPAC during the final days of the primary, we likely would not have won the nomination. Now, as we move into the fall campaign, I am proud to be THE Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Maine AND a supporter of the call to initiate impeachment proceedings against Bush and Cheney.
I want you to know that while some inside the Beltway see impeachment as
a "distraction," the sentiment in Maine for impeachment is strong. Not
only have several Democratic county committees passed impeachment
resolutions, but a resolution was also passed at the Democratic State
Convention in June asking the "Maine State Legislature and Maine’s U. S.
Representatives to call for an investigation by the U.S. House of
Representatives concerning allegations of high crimes and misdemeanors
committed by President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard B.
Cheney, and, if warranted, to initiate impeachment proceedings against
them."
And our message is spreading. Just today we got an e-mail that said, "I
am not a Maine resident but as an alarmed citizen of this great country
I cannot abide by the frightening behaviors of our president and vice
president. I see you support impeachment procedures for Bush and I am
pleased you have shown such leadership. We citizens desperately need to
hang on to our Constitutional Powers. Your leadership shows we still
have a voice. As citizen, I thank you."
The financial support we have received from ImpeachPAC, from the
ImPeachPAC list on ActBlue and from others who appreciate our position
has been crucial in getting our campaign as far as it has. The
additional $2,900 from ImpeachPAC will be used to print more brochures,
which include our position on impeachment, and to seed a grass-roots
fund-raising effort among rank-and-file Democrats.
As our campaign moves forward we will continue to work for protection of
the U.S. Constitution. We see in Bush, Cheney, and in our opponent, Sen.
Olympia Snowe, a disregard for the basic principles of habeas corpus,
due process, the bill of rights and the basic system of constitutional
checks and balances. A bill of impeachment against Cheney and Bush is
needed to restore the balance of powers of government.
Your are doing good work, and I and my supporters deeply appreciate the
help you have given our campaign.
