Dick Cheney: "Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction." (VFW 8/26/02 [5]) Iraq had no useable WMD's after they were all destroyed in 1991, according to the definitive report by Charles Duelfer [6].
Joe Lieberman: "Iraq is significantly better, different, than it was a year ago." (Debate with Ned Lamont 7/7/06 [7]) 206 U.S. soldiers were killed [8] in Q2 2006; nearly the same as the 210 killed in Q2 2005. 12,617 Iraqi civilians were killed [9] in year 3 of the war, more than the 11,312 killed in year 2. In 2006, monthly civilian deaths [10] rose from 1,778 in January to 3,149 in June, an increase of 77%.
