Sebastopol, California announces the passage of a resolution [1]by the City Council for the impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney.
A resident wrote:
Many say we should just wait until the next election and that impeachment is off the table. This would be a grave mistake.
Our constitutional rights have been stripped from us and the government is currently able to invade our lives in every sector.
Simultaneously, we are destroying lives and countries from Iraq to Afghanistan, and across the globe, with corporate plunder taking the form of abuse of labor and the environment for profit.
This is not about George Bush and Dick Cheney, as Martin Luther King Jr. so aptly stated,"Let no man bring you so low as to hate him." We must act because we love this world and all its inhabitants have a right to a peaceful coexistence. So it is truly about reclaiming our constitution out of the hands of those whose bottom line is money not the health and welfare of communities. But if we let this go unchecked it sets a precedent for future regimes to continue these devastating polices.
Remember the Congress has served as a partner in this illegal war and the creation of the Patriot Act.
Many people all over the world need to know that the American people do not support tyranny in the name of democracy.
The whole world is watching! Let's show them what democracy looks like!
