Impeachment Pace for Cheney Quickens; Now 11 Congressional Co-Sponsors of H. Res. 333

Congressional support of Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich's H. Res. 333 impeachment resolution of Richard B. Cheney continues to grow. The pace of support has quickened over the past two weeks, with eleven congressional representatives, including Representative Kucinich, co-sponsoring the resolution.

  • Congressman William Lacy Clay, Jr., a representative of Missouri
  • Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a representative of Illinois
  • Congressman Albert Wynn, a representative of Maryland
  • Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, a representative of New York
  • Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey, a representative of California
  • Congresswoman Barbara Lee, a representative of California
  • Congresswoman Maxine Waters, a representative of California
  • Congressman Keith Ellison, a representative of Minnesota
  • Congressman Hank Johnson, a representative of Georgia
  • Congress Jim McDermott, a representative of Washington

The most recent co-signer, Representative Jim McDermott, made his endorsement in a speech before the House. Author Dave Lindorff observed:

In addition to citing Cheney’s role in deceiving Americans and Congress into supporting an invasion of Iraq, and threatening war with Iran, which are the charges in Kucinich’s impeachment bill, McDermott cited Cheney’s claim to be exempt from Congressional investigation and his refusal to comply with rules for the handling of classified information as grounds for his impeachment. It is not clear whether he intends to file his own impeachment bill on those issues, or to have them added to Kucinich’s bill.
