Let's Demand Impeachment and Ending the War At Our Representatives' Homes!

George Bush and Dick Cheney have committed numerous impeachable crimes, including launching a war of aggression and lying to Congress about it, torturing and murdering prisoners, using chemical and radiation weapons, and spying on thousands - perhaps millions - of Americans in flagrant defiance of Congress and our courts.

We have politely asked our Representatives to restore our democracy by impeaching these criminals and ending the disastrous war they launched. But most Members have not even co-sponsored Rep. John Conyers' bill to create an investigation into grounds for impeachment (H. Res. 635).

On February 2, George Bush requested another $120 billion [1] for the never-ending Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan - wars that have already cost $320 billion of our tax dollars, plus (in Iraq alone) 2,249 U.S. soldiers killed, 16,429 maimed, and 100,000 or more Iraqis killed.

Meanwhile, Bush's top officials went before the Senate and lied about NSA wiretapping - yet again.

The time has come to draw a line in the sand. If We The People don't stop this madness and punish these criminals, no one will.

Groups like the Iraq Pledge of Resistance (http://iraqpledge.org [2]) are bravely protesting at Congressional offices, but more is needed. So let's protest where our Representatives cannot ignore us - right in front of their homes.

We do not want to break any laws or engage in any form of violence. We do not want to frighten any children or upset any spouses. We do not want to threaten or intimidate any Members.

We simply want to exercise our Freedom of Speech by picketing on the public sidewalk carrying large signs that our Representatives, their neighbors and passing cars can easily see. What is more American than that?

Following the arrest of Cindy Sheehan for simply wearing a t-shirt inside the very embodiment of our Democracy - Congress - it is more important than ever for us to fully exercise our First Amendment rights.

So let's gather at the homes of our Representatives every Saturday at 10 a.m. local time. Come, bring your family, bring a friend, carry a large hand-made sign, take photos to record the event, and blog about it when you get home.

Here is a list of home addresses: LINK.

Here are flyers you can modify and hand out during your protest: LINK.

Here are posters you can modify and put up in your Representative's neighborhood: LINK.

Here is a sample media advisory you can modify and send to your local media: LINK.

And here is a web-based system you can use to create a network with others in your Congressional District, to help you organize this and future actions to restore democracy in America: LINK.

Remember, we are asking for an end to violence - so do not engage in any. Form a peacekeeper team if needed to keep the protest family-friendly and to avoid traffic problems. Let's make these protests a national success - and finally take back America for our children and for generations to come!
