California Democratic Party Passes Resolution Demanding Impeachment of Bush and Cheney

ANOTHER HISTORIC STEP ON IMPEACHMENT

Sparked by an insurgency among delegates, the California Democratic Party has taken an historic step forward on the issue of impeachment. In a resolution affirmed by the full state party convention Sunday, the Democrats called on the U.S. Congress to use its subpoena power to investigate misdeeds of President Bush and Vice President Cheney – and to hold the Administration accountable “with appropriate remedies and punishment, including impeachment.” The delegate insurgency was coordinated by Progressive Democrats of America and its allies.

10 States Introduce Impeachment

By David Swanson

In 10 U.S. states, either this year or last year or both, the state legislature has introduced and considered, though not yet passed, a bill to petition the U.S. House of Representatives to impeach Bush and Cheney. The question, of course, is what in the heck is wrong with the other 40 states? We can't find a single state legislator with the decency to uphold the U.S. Constitution and at least introduce a resolution to impeach? Where are the states that created the Constitution? Where are Massachusetts and Virginia? What's holding up New York? Where in the world is Oregon? Is this all the pressure we can muster in the cause of justice?

David Balsam and several other residents in the Village of Nyack, New York, have submitted a Resolution to the Village Board of Trustees, calling for the Impeachment of Bush/Cheney.
San Francisco Puts Impeachment on the November Ballot

With Help From Constitution Summer, San Francisco Approves Ballot Initiative to Call for Impeachment
Announcement Comes on Anniversary of Nixon Resignation

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Four City San Francisco Supervisors have put their pens to a document that will allow the city's 421,000 registered voters an up or down vote on the merits of impeaching both President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney this November 7th. The San Francisco Impeachment Ballot Initiative, like the Berkeley Impeachment Ballot Initiative approved on June 27th, 2006, was drafted in close coordination with Constitution Summer, a nonpartisan, national coalition of students at the nation's law schools and universities. Champaign-Urbana, Illinois quietly approved the first municipal presidential impeachment initiative in American history on April 11th, 2006.

City of Plattsburgh NY votes to investigate Bush impeachment!

by Bob Aubin
Fri Apr 07, 2006

I was very excited to attend the Plattsburgh NY City Council meeting tonight at 6PM. The chamber was packed with people, many of whom spoke in favor of Congress investigating George Bush over a host of alleged violations of law. Only two individuals spoke against the measure, and they seemed to have a personal issue with the Councilor who proposed the resolution, Bill Provost.

CHAPEL HILL - President Bush should be impeached, Town Council members unanimously decided Monday night.

The vote was the local body's latest foray into national politics. A local Republican dismissed it as a "move of desperation."
